"copy moon joy"
so we're all watching the artemis II live stream right?
Floor Time
/flôr tīm/
noun
the 15-60 minute time period spent laying on the floor in the middle of the work day, typically as a relief from the soul-sucking reality of corporate America.
If you’ve seen me crying over Artemis II content on public transit for a week straight, no you didn’t.
Though I don’t have a scientific bone in my body,1 I, like every kid (and adult, let’s be honest), have a deep fascination, admiration, and adoration for anything interstellar. So, every day since mission launch, I’ve been following the crew of the Artemis II mission on their historic journey to the moon and back. I cried when they shared they would name a part of the moon “Carroll” after commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife, and when they came back from the LOS on the dark side of the moon, and when I watched the reel of Lucas Ye from Mountain View who designed Rise, the extremely adorable mascot, and just basically every day thinking about “copy heart, copy bracelet.” I think this entire mission is the most human thing we’ve done in a long time.
During a time when many things feel deeply fragmented in our group life, these astronauts have provided an unparalleled sense of collective effervescence2. In some ways, it’s an encouraging reminder of how unimportant some things are here on earth. We’re just on this speck together, floating in a vast, near incomprehensible void. I hope that in itself is a reminder enough to go out and touch grass this weekend.
Something I Thought of in the Shower
I think the scene in this season of Shrinking when Jason Segal and Michael Urie improv “The Confrontation” from Les Mis is my favorite scene of the show ever.
Something Pretty
Finally, FINALLY some signs of spring amidst this eternal New York winter.

Something for Clarice
Hey! This Friday newsletter is free, and I intend to keep it that way. That said, if you love it and want to show your appreciation, buy me a coffee :)
By the way…I’m reading this.
I’ve been trying to figure out when to dig into The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai and I think it’s finally time. Really looking forward to this one.
Hope you have a great weekend! Bit of a shorter newsletter today because I am celebrating my birth week and plan to frolic when it finally breaks 60 degrees :)
Til’ next time, fellow space lovers. Your friend,
Clarice
Famously, the only C- I’ve ever gotten in my entire time as a student was in AP Chemistry cause wtf is that.
The last time I felt it was also for a space-related event—with all of us looking up at the solar eclipse.
